mary nichols sept. 1880 arkansas john.w. little 1894 hempstead co. arkansas "Looking for info on a Mary(molly) Angeline Nichols from Hempstead County, Arkansas(?). I find her listed on the 1900 census here but no marriage license in or around there. Husband listed as born in Mississippi in Jan. 1872. At this time they had 1 daugther, Ida C. age 2. They later had Clyde, Florence,and Berneice. In 1908 she remarried a W.H.Ray of Patmos and they had 1 son, Homer. I don't know if Mary and W.H. moved to Mobile, Alabama or what but that is where the son is living at her death in 1964. However there is a WilliamH. listed on the 1920 Hempstead County,Arkansas census.This marriage had to take place somewhere around 1909 in accordance with the oldest childs age. Mary later married a YOUNGBLOOD. I have no idea what his name was, when or where they married or what happened to him. In a letter of 1886 Elisabethe mentions a brother ( no name ) who left Cleveland and bought a farm in Bakport????, and an uncle Philip ( a maker of shoes ) who had 3 daughters, all married by 1886, and living in Cincinnati, Ohio." Lillian Devine 1901 "Providence, Rhode Island" "Providence and Scituate, Rhode Island" "Lillian Devine was the youngest surviving daughter of Patrick J. and Catherine M. (Farrell) Devine. She had 2 older sisters, Kathleen and Mary E. Devine. Mary Devine married John Crofton, Jr. She died in 1922 at the age of 31. Her mother, Catherine, died in 1918 in Scituate, R.I. and is buried at St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Lillian and Kathleen Devine were living with their sister Mary (Devine) Crofton and John Crofton at the time of the 1920 census. Matilda JOHNSON / JOHNSTON 1859 "Halifax, Nova Scotia" William WESTACOTT "Halifax, Nova Scotia, Devon England, Koroit, Melbourne, Australia" "Matilda JOHNSON born circa 1859, Halifax, Nova Scotia. placed in orpahnage, removed by Lady Mary BINNEY wife of 4th Anglican Bishop of Nova Scotia, Hibbert BINNEY.
'Fostered' by Mrs NEWTON, resided Nova Scotia until approx age of 10, then along with 'foster' parent immigrated to England.
Immigrated to Australia with husband William WESTACOTT 1889.
Believed to be of North American Indian Heritage, to date however unable to establish true heritage.
Bishop Hibbert BINNEY and his wife displayed an unusal interest in Matilda JOHNSON / JOHNSTON, acting as her 'godparents' at her chritening.
Matilda's husband William WESTACOTT travelled to Nova SCOTIA proior to 1887 to enquire about Matilda's parentage but was met with some reticance from Bishop BINNEY, who refused to answer William's questions.
William did however meet with the Bishop's daughter by chance and later commented that she resembled his wife Matilda JOHNSON / JOHNSTON.
This is all the information I have on my gg g'mother prior to arrival in Australia where she lived until her death in 1958.

I got their names off of my Grandfather's death certificate, and the marriage date from the ""Early Kentucky Marriages"" CD. Any information would be appreciated. My Grandfather, Jeptha Dale was born in Shelbyville,Ky in 1854. There was also another son, and I think his name was Charles. He lived in Louisville.
