Patadle Kuzel Braidwood, Illinois I am looking for my great-grandmother. Her maiden name was Patadle, or Potadle, Patejdl or Pateajdl (Bohemian). She married (I think) a man with the last name of Kuzel. At least my Grandma used the last name Kuzel. My grandma's name is Marie Clarice Kuzel and she was born June 2, 1894, in Braidwood, Illinois - although I've had no luck in obtaining a copy of her birth certificate. My grandma was raised by her maternal grandparents (Jacob and Barbara Slozkova Patadle) in Braidwood until either 1901 when Barbara died or 1903 when Jacob died. She then moved to the Southwest Side of Chicago near Cicero, Illinois to be raised by her maternal uncle, Frank Patadle (referred to as Frantisek Potadle in his obituary from 1919) and his wife Antonia Patadle (also found to be known as Antonie Potadle and Antonia Pateajdl). According to family lore (much of which may not be reliable)my grandma's mother was institutionalized in a state facility in Manteno, Illinois, until her death which possibly was in 1948 or 1949. Mary Klock? 1815 New York State George W. Merrill c1840-41 NY & WI No birth record or marriage record has been found in NY State. Her surname may have been KLOCK as a Mary Klock was the wife of a George MERRILL in the Rasbach genealogy. THis Mary KLOCK's mother was Mary Katherine RASBACH. George W. and Mary (Klock?) Merrill's daughter, Delia Ann, had the surname RASBACH for her mother on her Death Certificate in 1930 in OR. Mary was also supposed to have been a member of the Methodist Episcopal church in her younger years according to he obituary in Wood Co., WI in Apr 1885. She was on the 1860 census for Waushara Co, WI. They moved to Wood Co. in Oct 1874. They are missing for 1840 and 1850 in NY and WI. They may have been on the Erie Canal as another family line is also missing on those censuses in NY and was on the Canal during those years. Mary's mother m. 2nd a David Pruess/Price in 1816 and moved to Orleans, Jefferson Co., NY in 1830. Mary is not with them and disappears until the 1860 census in WI. Marg McEuen MargMcEuen@prodigy.net
Rebecca McFarland 1818 Rhode Island Wilson Cole 1840/1841 Belmont County, Ohio Trying to locate the parents and/or siblings of Rebecca McFarland that were living in Belmont County, Ohio in 1840. She and her husband moved to one of the counties bordering the Ohio River in West Virginia shortly after marriage. They had 3 children: Martha Jane Cole, born May 9, 1841 and Alfred Hamilton Cole, born Oct. 9, 1842 in Powhattan Point, Ohio, and Harriet A. Cole, born Oct. 24, 1844. Alfred Cole married Dorcas M. Reynolds, resided in St. Marys, West Virginia and had nine children. Harriett Cole married Isaac Brock Nov. 9, 1865. Martha Jane Cole married George L. Rogers Mar. 4, 1866. Vera Estella Nolan (Turner) 1891 Rock County, WI Louis Sidney Anderson 1914 Janesville, WI, then Evanston, IL Vera was adopted in 1893 by Thomas Sumter Nolan and Jessie Maria Murdock. According to Thomas Nolan's law partner, Vera was not a relative of the Noalans and her birth name was Turner. Her father allegedly worked for the railroad and was either killed or injured in an accident which resulted in the Nolans adopting Vera. The Nolans may very well have changed her given name after adopting her. Allegedly Vera had an older brother. Although I know a great deal about Vera, she is someone's lost collateral ancestor and I would love to be able to fill in the missing pieces for them about a baby girl they may have assumed died in 1893. If you are looking for information on a Turner who lived in or near Janesville Wisconsin between 1890 and 1894, and you find that a baby girl disappears from the family, that child may well be Vera.
