Mary ?? possibly Tennessee J.H. Hammond From 1895 - 1899 Children: Known Children were... Bettie (called Lizzie), William Rufus, Sarah Jane, Martin Luther. State: Was in GA. in 1914 but said she came from TN to GA.. Date's are not known, this is my grandmother.. The oldest child (Lizzie) that I am aware of was born ca. 1900 in TN. If there was any other children born before Lizzie it is not known. In 1914 Mary's husband left her and her children at a shelter in Atlanta, the children were placed in a orphanage. I do not know Mary's full name. On the records I have my grandmother was only mentioned as Mary. Mary may have remarried unless my grandfather came back to find her. She was living in a shelter in Atlanta and was doing domestic work. When I was notified by phone in 1998 that my father's records were found, I was told Mary was a seamstress, but it did not state that on the records when I received them. I know that I was not sent all copies of my father's sibling's, compared to what I received on my father. Hope someone can help me fill in the pieces on my grandmother and grandfather. .  pat pat@internetpro.net

Sarah Price 1844/45 New York William C. Isbell 1860 Tennessee First_Census: Maury County, TN, 1860. Children: Margaret A.S. Isbell, Cassandra, Eugenia, Tom, Tim, Molly, Kate, Frank, Ella, Jim, Joe, and John Isbell. Am trying to locate the parents of Sarah Price. According to the 1880 census, Fayette County TN, they were born in "England." Sarah may have had a sister Loue(i)sa Ann Price who married Redmond R. Isbell (William C.'c brother) in White County 21 May 1862. There is the family story that there was French and Indian blood in this line, but if both parents were born in England, this it may be only a family myth. Sarah died after 1880, as she doe not appear in the 1900 census, and her oldest daughter Margaret was said to have helped raise her younger siblings.. Any information would be greatly appreciated .  Betty Meyer meyeroz@ozemail.com.au

Fannie Bell Crocker 1889 Mississippi Levi Smelley; Mr. Louder. 1901 Tennessee, Mississippi, or Michigan. Children: Ida Bell Smelley, Marvin Smelley, Jetta B. Smelley, Etta Anna Smelley, Garvin Smelley, Edward Smelley, Eskar Smelley, Ike Louder.. Fannie Crocker died in Detroit Michigan in 1939. She had a sister who was also pregnant at the same time that she was ready to deliver her first child. The two sisters settled on two names each for a girl and for a boy, so that whoever delivered first would take the favored name leaving the other for whichever sister delivered last. My GGrandmother Fannie heard that her sister had given birth, and sent my GGrandfather to find out what name had been chosen. It was only after that she had given birth and named her daughter that the two sisters discovered that my GGrandfather had gotten the names mixed up; both women had named their newborn daughters Ida Bell. In school, my grandmother was called Ida Blue and her cousin Ida Red, after a favorite song of that time. I would like to find out what my GGGrandmothers name was. John Crocker was Fannie's father, and a picture of him late in life shows him wearing what could have been a confederate uniform. I think his family may have come from around Gibson County TN. A 1870 census lists an 18 year old John Crocker.    .  Gwen gladriel@thegrid.net
